Our Review Editorial
Gina was born on Valentine's Day and has resented the coincidence ever since, which is roughly the energy she brings to Greece, where her boyfriend is planning a proposal she fully intends to prevent. Enlisting a pair of vacationers, Johnny and his sister Mickey, she sets about stalling the inevitable, and the scheme doubles as a way of asking whether she wants the relationship at all. Sun, sea and sabotage make for an appealingly petty comedy.
This one is for viewers who like their romantic comedies with a sour streak and a holiday backdrop, where the heroine is allowed to be difficult and not entirely sure of herself. It runs a tidy hour and thirty-five, keeps the ensemble small, and lets the farce build without losing the underlying question. Anyone in the mood for sunshine, bad decisions and a lead who is refreshingly unromantic about romance will find it goes down easily.
