Synopsis
In 1775 during the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines, nuns attempts to survive the night after an unknown evil was set free in their cloister. Meanwhile in 2025, a group of friends attend a Halloween masquerade ball which was attacked by a serial killer. Fast forward to the future in 2050, a post-apocalytic Philippines is ruled by the aswang.

Three timelines, one long night of Filipino horror: nuns trying to survive something loosed in their cloister in 1775, a 2025 Halloween masquerade broken open by a serial killer, and a 2050 Philippines where the aswang rule what is left. The anthology structure lets the film swing between colonial dread, slasher mayhem and post-apocalyptic monster action without apologizing for the tonal whiplash. The through-line is less plot than a sense of evil that keeps outliving whoever confronts it.
Genre completists and fans of long-running horror anthologies are the crowd here, happy to take the segments as they come and forgive a weaker one for the sake of the strongest. Two and a half hours is a lot of horror in a single sitting, so treat it as an evening rather than a quick scare. If you like your frights varied, local in flavor and unbothered by restraint, it is a generous helping. Newcomers to the series may want something leaner first.
