Our Review Editorial
Loneliness and technology make a familiar pair, and this eighteen-minute short goes straight at it. Jalte, who lives more comfortably in virtual worlds than outside them, builds Selina to be exactly what he wants her to be. The tagline's invitation to create your own dream girl is offered with an obvious edge, and the short's real interest is in what a perfectly designed companion reveals about the person doing the designing. It is intimate, contained science fiction, working through mood and implication rather than plot.
Recommended for viewers who like near-future shorts about isolation and artificial intimacy, and who do not need a full feature to sit with an idea. The brevity is an asset: enough time to establish a life and unsettle it, not enough to overexplain. If you enjoy speculative fiction that leaves you turning something over afterwards, this is a worthwhile twenty minutes.
