Synopsis
Best friends and train stewardesses Tess and DeeDee trade their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. However, when a catastrophic Stormaganza threatens to crash the high-speed train into Celebration, Florida, the duo in coach must join forces with the snobby first-class attendants, a hot but dimwitted co-conductor, and fabulous US President Judy Gagwell to save the day.
Our Review Editorial
Two stewardesses trade grim shifts on the Stank Rail for the gilded Glamazonian Express, and then a storm with a name like a pageant threatens to hurl the whole high-speed thing into Celebration, Florida. The disaster-movie skeleton is entirely deliberate — coach versus first class, a handsome and dim co-conductor, a fabulous President Judy Gagwell — and the film wears its parody costume loudly. Broad, camp and pitched at the rafters, it treats every convention of the genre as a target worth hitting twice.
This one is for viewers in the mood for silly rather than sharp: jokes come fast, the tone is unabashedly ridiculous, and nothing is asked of you beyond a willingness to giggle. Ninety minutes stops it wearing thin, and the class-war bickering carries the middle stretch. Anyone allergic to spoof comedy should steer well clear, but fans of glitter-flecked farce and disaster-flick send-ups will have a good time. Best watched late, with friends, and with expectations set to fun rather than finesse.
