Reef Hawk has been famous since he was six and is, by his own admission, not okay. When word reaches him of an extortion plot built around a mysterious video, he launches a pre-emptive redemption tour: apologies dispensed on schedule, demons confronted where they can be seen, cancellation dodged if at all possible. The comedy comes from the gap between a real reckoning and its carefully managed performance, and from a man who has never had a private thought in his life.

A good fit for viewers who like showbiz satire with a self-loathing streak and jokes aimed at the machinery of fame rather than the famous. At eighty-four minutes it stays lean, moving the tour from one awkward amends to the next without overstaying. Anyone who enjoys unlikeable-protagonist comedies and Hollywood eating itself will find the register familiar and enjoyable. Best queued up when you want something sharp, short and pleasantly cynical.
