Synopsis
High school student Polina is saved from bullying at her new school and makes a deal with the main bully Bars: he must pretend to be her boyfriend and protect her, and she must do everything he says. During this game, the couple develops real feelings, but her family and classmates have reasons to separate the lovers.

It is a familiar teen-romance engine, and the film uses it knowingly, letting a performance of a relationship curdle into a real one while the power imbalance sits there unresolved. Then the world closes in, with family and classmates each carrying their own reasons to pull the two apart.
High-drama teen romance is the mode, played with feeling rather than irony, and this suits viewers who want their love stories intense, complicated and unafraid of a raised voice. The longer running time gives the relationship room to develop past its premise, and the obstacles keep arriving.
